New page

Located 59 km west of Chengdu City, the Dujiang Weir is a great water conservancy project built in ancient China by the Shu Prefecture governor Li Bing in the Warring States Period (475-221BC).

The project mainly includes three parts: Yuzui (Fish Mouth), Feisha (Flying Sand) Weir and Baopingkou (Treasure Vase Mouth). Yuzui is a watershed in the middle of the river to divide the surging Minjiang River into two parts. Feisha Weir plays a role in discharging floodwater, removing sand and modulating water quality. And Baopingkou is the entrance of the inner river canal to control the amount of water inflow.

An ancient project still benefiting the local people today, Dujiang Weir has also been turned into a beautiful scenic area centering the Lidui Park.
