Since 1996, '''Chen Wenbin''' has trained six weightlifters to become world champions. They are [[Wang Guohua]], [[Wan Jianhui]], [[Shi Zhiyong]], [[Wu Meijin]], [[Zhang Guozheng]] and [[Li Hongli]]. He received certificates of honor in sports issued by the [[State Sports Administration]] on five occasions between 1996 and 2002. In 1999, he was named one of China's 10 best coaches.

The three weightlifters he coached – Shi Zhiyong, Zhang Guozheng and Wu Meijin – won two gold medals and one silver at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, and, as a result, he has been honored as a gold medal coach.

In 2008, the Chinese weightlifting team won eight gold and one silver.
