Li Keran, a master of Chinese painting, passed away in a Beijing apartment due to a sudden heart attack.

Originally named Li Yongshun, Li Keran was born in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, in 1907. He became involved in elite art circles when he was only 13 years old. He developed new styles and patterns of traditional Chinese landscape paintings. In addition to painting landscapes, Li Keran also enjoyed painting cows. The cows he painted represent unity and depict a joyful and poetic theme. Li Keran gained fame both at home and abroad. Li Keran's painting studio was called, "Master Cow Hall." (More...)
