The '''Hukou Waterfall''' ('''壶口瀑布'''), the second largest in [[China]], is located 165 km to the west of [[Fenxi City]], [[Shanxi Province]], and 50 km to the east of [[Yichuan]], [[Shaanxi Province]]. The width of the waterfall changes with the season, usually 30 m wide but increasing to 50 m during flood season. It has a drop of over 20 m. When the [[Yellow River]] is blocked by mountains on both sides, its width is abruptly narrowed down to 20-30 m. It rushes down from the narrowed mountain mouth, forming a grand waterfall, as if water is pouring down from a huge pot. Hence its name Hukou (literally "Kettle Spout") Waterfall.
