<p><b>New page</b></p><div>The Boxer (Righteous Harmony Society) was the secret martial arts society active in northern China, which launched the '''Boxer Movement''' in 1898, sweeping across [[Shandong]], [[Hebei]], [[Beijing]], [[Tianjin]], and all across northeastern China. The movement upheld the slogan, “Support the Qing to annihilate the foreigners.” The movement was actually used as a tool against the foreigners by the [[Qing]] government, who in turn feared the power of the Boxers. Demands from Westerners were placed upon the Qing court to quash the movement, and the short-lived society was ended thereafter.<br />
