New page

The '''Bixia (Azure Cloud) Temple''' is a complex of grand buildings set among high mountains, located on the top of [[Mount Tai]]. It consists of two courtyards. The main hall has a hip-and-gable roof and 360 runs of curved tiles, symbolizing the number of days in a lunar year. Wood easily decays due to fog and rain and tiles are easily wrecked by strong winds, the tiles were therefore made of iron. In the early [[Qing Dynasty]], iron tiles were replaced with bronze ones.
